She shrugged. ’ I nodded. ’ Karen laughed. ‘Really? ’ Suddenly I knew the time was right, although I hadn’t been planning it. I shifted onto my knees, her hand still in mine. ‘Karen Oaten,’ I said, as formally as I could. ’ She looked like she had been struck by several bolts of lightning.
