THE INTERACfION OF THE FOUR ANTIDOTES The four antidotes to laziness are interwoven into a tapestry of symbiotic dependency. Pliancy is indeed the primary antidote to laziness. How does one cultivate pliancy? By means of continually cultivating enthusiasm for the practice of concentration. What is the cause of enthusiasm? A very strong aspiration to cultivate concentration. How does one cultivate a very strong aspiration? By faith that sees the excellent qualities of developing meditative quiescence.

The joy that is born in pliancy brings an immediate end to laziness. For those who have attained Samatha, it is a tremendous boon for cultivating the succeeding stages on the path to awakening.
